Box Hill Institute has best BEC

Business Enterprise Centre Staff

Box Hill Institute’s Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) has always aimed for the very best for its clients.

Therefore it’s little wonder that it was recently recognised by Business Enterprise Centres Australia at the recent Small Business Development Conference as the Best National BEC for 2004.

According to Centre Manager, Val Bray from Box Hill Institute’s Management and Small Business Centre, the award was the culmination of passion, teamwork and sheer determination from the Box Hill Institute’s BEC staff.

It’s a fantastic recognition and a wonderful reward for a team that really work together and support each other,” Val said. “They’re very passionate about what they do.”

The conference was titled ‘The Heart, the Soul and the Centre of Australian Business’ and was put together by the Business Enterprise Centres Australia (BEC), the National NEIS Association and the Australian and New Zealand Association of Business Incubators (ANZABI).

Val believes the prestigious award was given to Box Hill Institute’s BEC Centre due to its unique and innovative delivery of professional support and business development assistance to Small to Medium Enterprises.

“Our BEC is unique because is resides within a TAFE Institution…this combination truly benefits our clients as we have immediate connections to the industries and trades our clients are part of,” Val explained.

Box Hill Institute’s BEC was developed along with approximately 100 other BECs scattered nationally as part of a scheme to provide advice and referral services to Micro Businesses and SMEs.

“One of our great strengths is that the team of people we’ve got, led by Peter Murray, are very passionate about small business,” Val said.

“It’s very exciting for them to be recognised by their peers and all BECs around Australia.
